Byers family Extreme Makeover update in 2023 has both good and bad changes. The household has welcomed two new members Joshua and Josiah since their appearance on the show. 

Sad news is that they also lost a member of the fam. The Byers family was featured in an episode of the reality show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in 2007.

Its been 16 years since their appearance on the series.

The show is about rebuilding the house of families who have faced hardships. The reality show went on air for ten seasons. 

Ty Pennington, the host of the show mentioned in an interview that the Byers family felt familiar like he has known them for several years. He also stated that the little girl named Boey from the family had changed the way he looked at life. 

The Byers had touched the hearts of several viewers and had gained their love and support during their difficult times. 

Byers Family Extreme Makeover Update

The Byers family from Extreme Makeover are out of the spotlight these days. However, their social media reveal they have two new members added to the household.

Rob and Rachel Byers were blessed with two sons Joshua and Josiah Byers.

Sadly, one member of the Byers household is no longer with the family as Boey lost her life in 2007 due to illness.

According to Rob Byers’s Facebook, it is known that he and his wife Rachel are real estate agents.

The pair also have established their own real estate company known as Byers Real Estate. In 2018, Rob announced the establishment of the company via Facebook. 

The couple’s sons Chris is currently 30 years old and Joe is 29 years old. The siblings were last seen in the reality show; they have been private about their professional and personal life as well. 

Boey Byers Passed Away After Battling With Cancer For Two Years

Boey Byers passed away on December 28, 2007, only 12 weeks after the episode aired on television. Boey was only eight years old when she lost her life.

Before her demise, the little one was being treated for pneumonia at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland. In 2006, she got diagnosed with stage 3 pediatric cancer and after several chemotherapies, her cancer went into remission.

But sadly after two months, she relapsed and cancer had spread in her bone and bone marrow. Later, Boey was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in her lower spine. Despite her illness, she provided hope to other children who suffered from a similar illness.

She began to film her treatment sessions and wrote daily blogs to celebrate her battle and with her saved money she bought teddy bears for other children suffering from cancer. 

Ty Pennington, the reality show’s host described the little one as smart, educated, and well-spoken. While speaking with her he felt like she was an old soul trapped in a young body.  

Boey Byers is not alive anymore but she will always remain in the hearts of her family.

Byers Family Appearance In Extreme Makeover

Byers family appeared on Extreme Makeover for season five episode three of the show in 2007. The Byers were one of the memorable families of the show. 

Since Boey was diagnosed with cancer Rob and Rachel have been taking care of their daughter as she is the more important person in their life. The couple had been distracted from their dreams of renovating the home.

The house was damaged by molds and the wires in the house were destroyed by mice. While the designers and homemaker teams of the show worked on their house the Byers family was sent to vacation in a private resort located in Hilton Hills, Carolina by the ABC network.

The Byers house located in Corvallis, Oregon was completed in seven days with the help of the crew and the people from the community.
